More than 60 meters longer than the world's largest aircraft carrier! On June 22, China's first 24,000teu ultra-large container ship, the world's largest, was signed and delivered at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. This is the world's first 23,000teu dual-fuel ultra-large container ship that Hudong Zhonghua has completed and delivered in September 2020. It is another major breakthrough in the field of top-level ultra-large container ship construction, and the company has become one of the few in the world. A leading shipping company in the R&D, design and construction of a full range of container ships.
The reporter learned that the ship was independently designed by Hudong Zhonghua and has completely independent intellectual property rights. The ship is classified by the American Bureau of Shipping (abs) and will serve the route from the Far East to Europe after it is put into operation. The total length of the ship is 399.99 meters, which is more than 60 meters longer than the current world's largest aircraft carrier; the width is 61.5 meters, the deck area is 24,000 square meters, which is equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields; the depth of the cargo compartment is 33.2 meters, which can carry 240,000 tons of cargo. It can load more than 24,000 standard containers at a time, and the maximum stacking layer can reach 25 layers, which is equivalent to the height of the 22nd floor.
Among them, the "three major" highlights endow the ship with the characteristics of "cargo king", "strong energy saving" and "good livability".
For example, Hudong Zhonghua breaks through the traditional design and adopts iteratively optimized subdivision layout, so that this type of ship has the largest number of containers in the same size ship. At the same time, through the use of innovative lightweight and simplified designs such as large rib-spacing framing, hybrid transverse bulkheads, and integrated lashing bridges, it has the strongest carrying capacity among ships of the same class, and the total weight of cargo that can be loaded exceeds 240,000 tons. It can carry 10% more weight than a 23,000teu container ship, making it the strongest "cargo king" in the world.
In terms of energy saving and low carbon, the ship also performs well. Hudong Zhonghua adopts the world's latest hydrodynamic optimization technology, so that this type of ship can achieve high speed and low fuel consumption under the condition of multiple loads and heavy loads. Thanks to Hudong Zhonghua's unique and exquisite bulbous bow design, the combined application of large-diameter propellers and energy-saving duct coupling optimization technology makes it particularly fast. During sea trials, it easily exceeded the contracted speed target of 22.5 knots. Compared with the 23,000teu container ship with traditional fuel oil, despite more container loading, the daily voyage can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 38 tons. Converted to 14-ton heavy container loading, the carbon emissions per unit container transportation can be reduced by 13.5%. All performance indicators have reached the international advanced level.
In addition, in line with the people-oriented design concept, the ship specially adopts a fully enclosed bridge design to minimize indoor noise and realize control operations in an all-weather air-conditioned environment. The experience standard of star-rated hotels has greatly improved the comfort of the crew in work and life, allowing the crew of the giant ship to have the warmth of home and the care of home away from home when sailing on the sea.
The delivery this time demonstrates the first-mover advantage of China's marine science and technology breakthroughs and China's creation of new heights.
According to statistics, Hudong-Zhonghua has so far delivered nearly 70 container ships of 8,000 teu and above, and has undertaken a total of 9 super-large container ships of 24,000 teu, ranking first among China’s major shipping companies. Currently, 6 ships are under construction, and 3 ships are planned to be delivered this year. , which means that the construction and delivery of the world's largest container ship has entered the "Hudong China Time", and the world's largest container ship brand in China's shipping industry will bear more fruits.
